The Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), Kano/Jigawa Command, has launched the B’Odogwu Data Window System, an indigenous registration portal for shippers, terminal agents, and traders, aimed at integrating a single national data system within the service.
Dalhatu Abubakar, Area Controller of the Command, inaugurated the platform on Tuesday during a training session for terminal operators, traders, and shippers in the Kano and Jigawa operational areas.
Abubakar stated that the initiative would enhance security, improve efficiency, and ensure that Customs operations remain locally controlled and managed. He revealed that over 16,000 applications had been processed through the B’Odogwu system between January and March 2025.
The Area Controller commended the NCS for its commitment and competence in transitioning from third-party service providers to the B’Odogwu system, which translates to “Reliable Border System.”
He explained that the system features new capabilities designed for speed, reliability, transparency, and compliance.
Abubakar warned that terminal operators not integrated into the B’Odogwu system would no longer be able to operate in Nigeria.
“To ensure compliance, Customs is actively training terminal operators, shippers, traders, and licensed agents to integrate their licenses into the system. We urge all stakeholders to onboard now, as once B’Odogwu is fully implemented, those who fail to register will lose access,” he said.
He also stressed that agents must register with the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) as part of the operational regulations.
“This system promotes compliance and reduces irregularities in agents’ dealings with Customs, thereby enhancing transparency in trade facilitation,” Abubakar added.
He assured stakeholders that B’Odogwu operates on an independent network with minimal downtime, ensuring uninterrupted service availability.
